Heather Brown- Owner & Artistic Director
Heather Brown was born and raised in Jacksonville, N.C. and moved to Wilmington in 1998. She is married to Brad and they have three children: Parker, Cooper, and Tatum. Heather has been dancing since the age of three. Throughout her career, she has studied tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, pointe and clogging. With a wide-range of experience, she has been able to successfully compete up and down the east coast for over 20 years, both as a student and a teacher. Heather has taken master classes with professional choreographers including Gene Medler (Founder of the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble), Dianne Walker and Brenda Buffalino. While she appreciates EVERY form of dance, her passions lie with rhythm tap and the joy she receives watching young ones grasp the art for the first time. Her awards range from Platinum to Special Choreography to Creativity and all points in between. Past choreography has been featured at the Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and on the stage at Walt Disney World. Heather is the owner/artistic director of Burgaw Dance Center and Gymnastics in Burgaw, NC.
Tatum Brown
Tatum was born in Wilmington NC and has been dancing since the age of 2. She is experienced in many different genres of dance such as: Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Ballet, Contemporary, Pointe, Gymnastics, Acrobatics, and Clogging. Tatum is a Regional Title holder for multiple competitions. She has received many Top Overall awards, Choreography awards, Scholarships and Judges awards through out her dance career.

Bridgette Leitch
My name is Bridgette Leitch and I have been dancing for 17 years. I started tap dancing when I was two years old, when I explored more genres of dance as I got older I found my love for lyrical and clogging. When I was 6 I started dancing competitively, In my dancing career I’ve obtained many awards and titles and learned from some amazing teachers. Some of my achievements included Overall Solo Awards, multiple platinum and high platinum solo adjudications, Grand Champion team and solo awards, and being inducted into the Americas Clogging hall of fame 2014 jr All American team at the age of 10 years old. I also had the pleasure of serving as the 2022 Teen Miss Blueberry Queen where I participated in community service and giving back to the town of Burgaw. I love the art of dance, it has been my passion ever since I could remember and that’s why I am thrilled that I am going into my second year teaching at Burgaw Dance Center and Gymnastics!

Founded in 2014, Burgaw Dance Center & Gymnastics has just finished its 10th season. Our experienced teachers ensure that students receive the best possible training.
Our Programs
We offer a wide variety of dance classes for students of all ages and skill levels, including Ballet, Jazz, Tap , Clogging, Acro dance, Pom dance, Mommy and me, Tiny dancers, Little tumblers, Gymnatics and Hip hop. Our programs are designed to help students develop their technique, strength, and artistry.
